Radiologic Technologist (X-ray) - West Virginia
Location
- City: Weirton, West Virginia
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Shifts: Day and Evening
- Hours per day: 10
- Hours per week: 40
- Shift pattern: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on (8-hour shifts)
- Day shifts vary (examples): 06:00-14:30, 06:30-15:00, 08:00-16:30, 09:30-17:00
- Evening shift: 14:30-23:00
- Midnight shift: 00:00-08:00
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
- Overnight shifts may require being the only technologist in-house
Department & Equipment
- Department has 4 rooms: 3 general X-ray, 1 fluoroscopy, 2 portable units, and 3 C-Arms
- Staffing: 6-7 techs during day (06:00-17:00), 3-4 techs evenings, 1 tech overnight
- Equipment includes: GE AMX portables with DR-Konica, C-Arms (OEC), diagnostic rooms with Del Medical, Siemens, Philips
- PACS system: Intellirad/Intelliconnect
- EMR system: Community Works
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform general X-ray studies, fluoroscopy cases (orthopedic and GI), and OR cases (cystoscopy, orthopedic, GI)
- Float between general X-ray, fluoroscopy, and operating room as needed
- Average volume: approximately 110 scans/studies per day
- No IV starts required
- No Registered Radiology Assistants (RRA) support
- Radiologist coverage: on-site until 5 pm, on-call after, teleradiology coverage overnight
Required Qualifications
- Valid West Virginia X-ray license
- ARRT certification
- BLS certification
- Must be able to function competently in all areas: general X-ray, portable imaging, OR, and fluoroscopy
- Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted
- Must provide an unexpired driver’s license at submission
- Must disclose any licensing issues at time of submission
- WV CARES registration required prior to start
Orientation & Training
- Department-specific orientation: 5 shifts with a preceptor
- Orientation shifts scheduled on steady afternoon and midnight shifts
- Work schedule during orientation: 4 ten-hour days, every other weekend
Dress Code
- Scrubs may be any clean, professional color
- Permanent staff wear emerald green; travelers may match but not required
Additional Notes
- 50-mile radius rule applies for candidate submissions
- No call or standby requirements; no response time expectations
