Registered Nurse - PCU Float (Travel/Contract)

Location: Wichita Falls, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Support primarily Medical-Surgical units with floating duties.
  • Work schedule: 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee. Must agree to an alternating 36/48 hour schedule; facility may consider straight 48-hour shifts.
  • Shift options: Day shifts, either 3 or 4 shifts per week, each 12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM).
  • Start date preferred within 3-5 weeks from hire.
  • Weekend work required, potentially most weekends during the contract. Block scheduling may be accommodated but set schedules cannot be guaranteed.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Minimum 2 years of total travel nursing experience.
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • E-Verify or attestation.
  • Background check within 1 year of start, including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide, and sex offender registry. Must be renewed annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start.
  • State license verification within 30 days of start.
  • Medication and competency exams as applicable.
  • Orientation and facility-specific acknowledgments/forms prior to start.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Immunizations and titers required (2 vaccines or positive titer unless exempt):
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella (or history of chickenpox)
    • Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (2-step PPD or equivalent).
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - May 31); medical or religious exemptions may be submitted.
  • COVID vaccination documentation required.
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start; must have plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status.

References & History

  • Two professional references within 3 years of start.
  • Resume or employment application required.
  • Annual skills checklist update required.
