Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Job - Arlington, Virginia
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Duration: 13 weeks (with potential to extend)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
- Patient Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics
- Daily Caseload: 30-40 patients per day
- Primary Equipment: Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator
- Documentation System: ARIA (Epic preferred)
Job Responsibilities
- Administer radiation therapy treatments using Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator.
- Utilize CBCT/kV/mV imaging.
- Perform dosimetry with IMRT and Electron Beam Therapy.
- Provide specialty treatments including Electron Field, Respiratory Gating/Breath Hold for Left Breast, Heterotopic Bone, Superior Vena Cava, Gynecomastia, and Prophylactic Treatments.
- Treat specialty cancers/illnesses such as Keloids and Prostate Cancer with Seeds/Fiducials.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in Virginia.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist, with experience within the last year.
- ARRT (T) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Additional Requirements
- Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required).
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31). Medical or religious exemptions must comply with CMS guidelines and require documentation.
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification required.
- Pre-employment physical exam within one year of start date, including ability to meet physical demands.
- Fit mask test within last 12 months required.
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and TB screening.
- Completion of facility-specific documents and policies prior to start, including confidentiality agreements, dress code, infection control, and orientation.
- Radiation badge attestation of prior radiation exposure required (radiation badges not provided for new candidates).
Compliance & Documentation
- Must complete vendor access request and facility background check processes promptly.
- Must complete annual competency exams and core training modules as applicable.
- Must provide proof of 2 clinical references.
- Must complete all required facility-specific acknowledgments and training prior to start.
Notes
- Scrub color: Any color allowed.
- Minimal Return to Office (RTO) expected.
- Candidates will be required to wear both agency and facility badges at all times.
This position offers a structured day shift with a high patient volume and requires strong technical skills with specific radiation therapy equipment and software. It is suitable for Radiation Therapists with at least 2 years of experience and appropriate licensure, including those new to travel assignments.
