Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location
- Lansing, Michigan
Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 48 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Work 3 weekends per 4-week schedule (may be 1, 2, or all 3 weekend days)
- Floating: Required to float between Labor & Delivery (L&D), Mother Baby, and Obstetric Special Care units as needed
Unit Descriptions
- Labor & Delivery (L&D): 12 LDRs, 3 ORs, 6 OB triage beds, 8 OB Special Care beds; regional referral center for high-risk obstetric care; AWHONN staffing model used
- Mother Baby Center: 34 rooms providing postpartum care for mothers and newborn care; Baby Friendly recognized
Guaranteed Hours
- 36 hours for 3 shifts (12-hour shifts)
- 48 hours for 4 shifts (12-hour shifts)
- 40 hours for shifts under 12 hours (8 or 10-hour shifts)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Michigan
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- AWHONN certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic charting system
Orientation and Onboarding
- Required to submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation at profile submission; no approvals after contract signing
- Facility-specific modules completed onsite at orientation
- Background checks and verifications required within specified timeframes (including education, licensure, and criminal background)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, noting latex sensitivity
- N95 Fit Test within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, plus annual TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity verification
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- 10-panel drug screen with THC within 30 days of start (medical marijuana cards or dilute screens not accepted)
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from previous employers
- Current resume including 7-year work history
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- No on-call duties required
