NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Longmont, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
- Days: All days of the week, including weekends as required by unit needs
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 3 patients
- Unit Beds: Labor & Delivery (7 beds), Postpartum (10 beds), Special Care Nursery (6 beds)
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrubs Provided
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Colorado
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front/back)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Proof of legal name change if applicable
- Background Checks (within 60 days of start):
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, education verification (accredited nursing school), sex offender search, OFAC sanctions list
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education Verification or acceptable transcript/diploma (from CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing school)
- NURSYS Verification for RN license (within 60 days of start)
- Physical Exam (within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA)
- Fit Mask Test (within 12 months, specific approved masks)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via titer or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- COVID-19 vaccine proof or signed declination
- Drug Testing (within 30 days of start, panel includes multiple substances)
- Color Blindness Testing: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
- Annual Competency Exams and Training (must be current within 1 year):
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency
- Core Parts I, II, III
- OSHA Mandatory Training
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency (if applicable)
- References: Two references from the last two years, including one from the last year, from Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
- Employment History Verification: Last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Information
- Return to Office (RTO) days limited to 10 maximum; no RTO allowed during specified blackout periods in 2026 (late June to early July, early to mid-September, late October to early November)
- Flexibility on RTO may be considered for harder-to-fill positions
- Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment
- Candidates with employment gaps of 15+ days are considered new and must meet all full requirements again
This position is ideal for NICU RNs with at least 2 years of experience seeking a night shift travel contract in Colorado. First-time travelers are welcome. Compliance with all licensing, certification, immunization, and background requirements is mandatory.
