Description

Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech

Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Surgical Services
  • Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Must have Level 1 Trauma experience
  • Shift: Day shift, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (10-hour shifts, 4 days per week)
  • On-call required Friday through Sunday during scheduled weeks (at least two call days per week and 1-2 weekends every 6-week schedule)
  • Floating required to other units/campuses as needed, including Main OR if CVOR volume is low

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA (pending certification not accepted)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Driver’s License required for computer access and must be carried on duty

Clinical Skills and Experience

  • Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including First Assist roles
  • Experience with procedures such as:
    • Aortic Aneurysm repair
    • Atherectomy
    • ASD repair
    • Cardiomyoplasty
    • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
    • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
    • Mitral valve replacement
    • Pericardial window
    • Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) management
  • Patient population averages 3 heart surgeries per day

Scheduling and Work Conditions

  • Shift hours: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • On-call required after shift hours Friday–Sunday during scheduled weeks
  • Overtime days expected each week
  • Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Travel pairs and trios are welcome
  • Radius rule applies for local candidates; first-time travelers are not accepted

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 12 months of start required
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
  • Fingerprinting required if candidate has lived/worked in certain states (e.g., WV) within last 7 years
  • Education verification required (highest level of education)
  • Drug screen required within 1 year of start and updated annually (5-panel minimum)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required (or proof of immunity/declination):
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days of start)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required by specified deadlines (not required for remote workers)

Orientation and Training

  • Online modules (~12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
  • Pass/fail testing (medication and arrhythmia exams) required prior to orientation with two attempts allowed
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required annually
  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style, plain background, no alterations)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist experience
  • CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through NBSTSA (pending certification not accepted)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Experience with the following procedures:
    • Aortic Aneurysm repair
    • Atherectomy
    • ASD repair
    • Cardiomyoplasty
    • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
    • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
    • Mitral valve replacement
    • Pericardial window
    • Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) management
