Description

Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Salina, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (9:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
Patient Ratio: 1:2
Floating: Yes, within Surgical Services
Call: Yes, PACU Phase 1


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Minimum 1 year of recent PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Experience with MEDITECH EMR system

  • Work within Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Phase 1
  • Floating responsibilities within Surgical Services
  • Call duties required
  • Facility applies a 100-mile radius rule for mileage approval (reviewed case-by-case)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
  • Background checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • FACIS Level III screening within 30 days of start
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification or proof of highest degree earned required
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Physical exam within last 12 months, signed by MD, DO, PA, or ARNP confirming ability to perform essential job functions
  • Drug testing:
    • 10-panel drug screen including marijuana within 60 days of start (SAMHSA certified, reviewed by MRO)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (or appropriate documentation if positive history)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer within 10 years or completed 2-dose MMR vaccine series (boosters required if non-immune)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed 3-dose series, or declination form
    • Varicella: Positive titer or completed 2-dose vaccine series
    • Tdap: Current within last 10 years required for Birth Center/NICU staff; recommended for others
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine or Declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); mask required if declined
  • COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted; medical/religious exemptions accepted with declination form
  • N95 Fit Test within 12 months of start (can be completed onsite during orientation if needed)

Training and Competency

  • Completion of facility-specific Healthstream modules (approximately 8 hours) required prior to start
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Core competency exams as applicable
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement including HIPAA compliance

References and Evaluations

  • Two professional references within 2 years required for travel RN positions
  • Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the agency over 1 year (collected internally)

  • Facility does not accept instant background checks as placeholders; full background checks must be on file prior to start
  • Photo required for badge issuance
  • Candidates must comply with a 100-mile radius rule for mileage reimbursement approval (case-by-case)

This position offers a travel contract opportunity for an experienced RN with Meditech EMR proficiency, working in a fast-paced PACU environment with surgical service float and call responsibilities.
