Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit
Location: Chambersburg, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts; weekends and holidays as needed
- Floating: May be asked to float to other stepdown or medical-surgical units
- Patient Population: May care for COVID-19 patients
- Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with Stepdown experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse (Childline) Search completed 3 business days prior to start, renewed every 5 years
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search completed within 1 year prior to start (cannot start with results pending)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting:
- PA FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start, results must be on file within first 45 days of assignment or candidate will be removed
- Fingerprints must be completed in Pennsylvania; appointment receipt required for approval to start with results pending
- Education Verification: Highest level of education verified (degree, diploma, or transcripts)
- Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (specific to agency requirements)
- Physical Exam: Required within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP
- Immunizations & Health Documentation: Must include two identifiers (e.g., full name, DOB, SSN)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days; PPD not accepted
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Vaccines (2 doses) or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) or declination form
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 Vaccine, medical/religious exemption, or declination accepted
- Fit Mask: Required for all patient-facing candidates 3 business days prior to start; specific mask types mandated
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
- Medication/Pharmacology and Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exams required as applicable
- Photo for badge: Clear, passport-style photo with light background required
Orientation & Training
- Completion of assigned Learning Management System (LMS) modules on PC/laptop prior to start (cannot be completed on cell phones)
- New Hire Orientation must be completed by end of first day of orientation
- Multi-factor authentication and user account setup required as part of onboarding

- Manager interview required after clinical screening
- No call requirements
- Weekend and holiday shifts as needed
