Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Georgia, Albany
Job Details
- Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
- Location: Albany, Georgia
- Contract Length: 17 weeks
- Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Hours: 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week
- Work Schedule: Rotating days off with weekend and weekday call requirements
Facility & Work Environment
- Full-service OR with 19 suites
- Approximately 55-60 cases per day (~1000 cases per month)
- EMR system: Meditech
- Not a Level 1 trauma center, functions as Level 2
- Case types include ortho/neuro trauma, robotics; excludes major pediatrics, transplants, and C-sections in the main OR
- Ventilator patients primarily recover in ICU
- Surgeons on call 24/7; they cover their own cases
- Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
- One-week floor-specific orientation provided
- Scrub color and scrubs provided
- Scrubbing by RN not required but preferred
Call and Weekend Requirements
- RN weekend coverage approximately once per quarter
- RN call approximately every 7th weekend; no weekday call
- Call response time: 30 minutes
- Call coverage limited to cases within RN’s competency; specialty teams handle ortho/neuro and cardio/thoracic cases
- Holiday shifts rotate with permanent staff; flexibility required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of OR nursing experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must have a valid driver’s license within a strict 75-mile radius of the hospital
- Skills checklist must accurately reflect proficiency; a rating of 3 indicates proficiency
- Must be reliable, punctual, flexible, and able to competently cover a broad range of OR services
Additional Notes
- OR techs must be Certified Surgical Technologists (CST)
- No floating assignments
- Charge nurse role is managed by nurse manager
- Travelers are expected to serve the facility’s needs with a basic competency across most services
