Description
Radiation Therapist (Full Time Days) – Contract
Location: Lancaster, Ohio
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (No weekends, No call)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs radiotherapy procedures as prescribed by a physician according to established standards and practices. Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of license and assessed competencies, adhering to laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in Ohio
- Minimum of 2 years of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- ARRT certification
- BLS certification
- Associate's degree in radiography
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver prescribed radiation therapy treatments using appropriate equipment.
- Obtain patient history, answer questions, and observe patients for reactions during treatment.
- Follow departmental policies, safety, infection control, and quality improvement standards.
- Schedule patient treatments and coordinate with physicists and supportive care teams.
- Verify prescriptions, diagnoses, and patient identification to ensure accurate treatment.
- Prepare documentation including treatment plans, progress reports, and evaluations.
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment; assist with patient positioning and transfers, taking special care with medical devices (catheters, IVs, oxygen, etc.).
- Reinforce physician and care provider recommendations regarding treatment side effects and care.
- Perform verification and port film exposures; make therapy adjustments as directed.
- Participate in ongoing professional development through education and training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical and Work Environment
- Physical Demand: Medium work requiring exertion of 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds often.
- Mental/Psychological: Requires analytical abilities, memory, problem-solving, creativity, communication, collaboration, prioritization, and judgment.
- Potential Exposures: Electrical equipment.
- Protective Equipment: No special considerations.
