NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Odessa, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 48
Job Description
- Work in a high-risk Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and STABLE certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience required.
- Prior travel nursing experience is required.
- Facility may consider 36 or 48-hour shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Minimum of 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Previous travel nursing experience.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background check including 7-year history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks.
- Education verification and transcript/diploma (if applicable).
- NURSYS verification for RN license.
- E-Verify or attestation.
- Facility-specific documents including:
- Notice of Employment
- Standards of Conduct and Behavior
- Dress Code Policy Acknowledgement
- Agency Checklist
- COVID declination (if applicable)
- HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules (must be completed within 72 hours of signing)
- Orientation and Safety Training Modules (must be completed within 72 hours of signing)
- Annual TB Questionnaire (updated if gap >30 days)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing).
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or approved masks only; PAPR not accepted).
- Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing or as noted:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year; chest X-ray within 2 years if positive)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if low/equivocal titer
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination required
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct-April); mask required if declined
- COVID initial series or facility-specific declination required (annual boosters not required)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable).
- Two professional references within 3 years.
- Resume or employment application required.
- Annual skills checklist update required.
Additional Notes
- Candidate must complete facility-specific forms prior to start as required.
- Orientation and safety training modules are time sensitive and must be completed promptly.
- Facility enforces strict compliance with standards of conduct and dress code.
- Facility does not accept PAPR masks; fit testing failure may prevent work eligibility.
This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs with prior travel nursing experience seeking a night shift travel contract in Texas.
