Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - NICU
Location
- Indianapolis, Indiana

- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift
- 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
Unit Assignment
- Primarily Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- May float to PICU and Pediatric Acute Care units
- Home unit will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics, assigned based on facility needs
Requirements/Qualifications
- Certified Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience
- NICU experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- Labor and Delivery (L&D) experience
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Indiana State Respiratory Therapist License (must be in hand to submit)
- NBRC RRT credential
- NRP (AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required if placed in L&D; can be obtained after offer
- PALS preferred
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Additional Requirements
- Must provide written confirmation of awareness and comfort with every other weekend shift requirement
- Completion of mandatory facility-specific RRT modules prior to orientation (deadline: Friday before start)
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy required)
- Background checks including 7-year history, SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, and education verification
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required vaccinations or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Color blindness exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
Important Notes
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Indiana RN license holders are restricted from working at this facility effective 11/30/2024, with exceptions for perioperative and ambulatory RNs; this does not affect Respiratory Therapists
- Facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements must be completed prior to start
- On-site fit testing is limited and requires prior approval
- Candidates must complete all required documentation and orientation packets as a priority
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with NICU and L&D experience seeking a travel contract in a pediatric-focused hospital setting.
