Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
• Caseload: 10-25 cases per day
• Rooms: 7
• Call Requirements: Weekday, weekend, and holiday call coverage
• Weekend Schedule: 2 weekends per 6-week schedule
• Scrubs: Green scrubs provided

Job Expectations

• Upon starting, you may be assigned to an Emergency Team with the expectation to stay onsite until the event passes or be part of a relief team during emergency events.
• Must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as directed by the unit manager.
• First-time travelers are accepted if they have sufficient Operating Room experience.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Cardiovascular (CV) experience

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Sex Offender Search within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Education Verification: Primary or third-party verification of highest education level required
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually; if positive, additional documentation required
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella as per facility standards
  • Tdap vaccination required for certain units (not specified for OR)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start, initiated within 24-48 hours of offer acceptance
• Fit Mask Testing: Annual N95 fit testing required; can be completed onsite if needed
• Photo for Badge: Full color, passport-style photo taken within last 6 months, plain background, no obstructions or filters

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklist updated annually
• Competency exam specific to specialty, minimum 80%, updated annually
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit (check with management)
• Employment application and resume required, including 7 years employment history and explanation of gaps
