Description
Occupational Therapist – Inpatient Rehab
Location: Pueblo, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Occupational Therapist (Therapy/Rehabilitation)
- Shift: Day shift (5 days a week, 8 hours per day, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday
- Unit: 15-bed freestanding inpatient rehab unit with private and semi-private rooms, rehab gym, ADL kitchen, laundry room, and transitional ADL apartment
- Team collaboration includes twice-weekly interdisciplinary conferences, daily morning huddles, and family conferences as needed
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Caribbean Blue top; black bottoms allowed
- Return to Office (RTO) days max: 10 days; RTO not allowed during specified blackout periods in 2026
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Colorado
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Experience in inpatient and rehabilitation settings
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (3M 1860S, 1860R, or 1870/1870+ masks accepted)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers are negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B – positive titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if titer negative/equivocal
- COVID-19 – proof of vaccination or signed declination (acceptable vaccines: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually; includes QGold/TSpot or True 2-Step PPD
- Drug testing within 30 days of start and updated annually (specific panel required)
- Color blindness testing: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
Background and Verification
- 7-year background check required within 60 days of start, including:
- SSN Trace
- Colorado Statewide CBI check
- Education verification (3rd party or transcript/diploma)
- FACIS III or equivalent
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Colorado CAPS check results required within 60 days of start
- UCHealth CO CAPS Release Authorization required annually
- Employment application and skills checklist required annually
Additional Information
- On-call not required
- Flexibility on RTO days may be considered for harder-to-fill positions
- Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may have local considerations (not pay-related)
This position is suitable for Occupational Therapists with at least 1 year of experience, including those new to travel assignments if they have prior inpatient rehab experience. The role requires strong interdisciplinary collaboration and adherence to comprehensive health, background, and compliance standards.
