Description
Job Opportunity: Mammography Tech
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Work in a high-volume clinic setting.
- Patient Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics.
- Shift: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Hours per week: 40 hours.
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.
- Scrub color: Hot Pink.
- First-time travelers and local candidates within 75 miles are welcome.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Mammography Technologist license in North Carolina.
- Minimum 1 year of Mammography Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Certifications:
- ARRT(R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography.
- ARRT(M) – Mammography certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA certified.
Required Licenses and Verifications
- Valid state license as applicable for Mammography Tech.
- National certification verification from ARRT for Radiography and Mammography.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including:
- SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), and education verification.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start.
- Education verification confirming graduation from an accredited Radiologic Sciences program with an AAS or higher.
- OFAC sanctions list check within 30 days of start.
- Pass/fail testing on basic technician knowledge administered at orientation (passing score 80%).
- Competency exam specific to the unit.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training provided if not already held.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (latex allergy acceptable).
- Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions).
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or T-Spot) within 12 months or clear chest X-ray if history of positive PPD.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Measles, Mumps, and Rubella immunity via vaccines or positive antibody titers (no exemptions).
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination.
- Varicella immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low/equivocal titers.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (no exemptions).
- Negative 10-panel drug test including THC within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted).
Documentation and Onboarding
- Two professional references from employment within 12 months of start; at least one must be a supervisor.
- Employment application with 7 years of work history.
- Skills checklist updated annually.
- Facility-specific documents and agreements must be signed prior to start.
- Completion of online orientation modules prior to starting.
- Setup of a facility guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems.
Additional Notes
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some document requirements waived or accepted on file.
- Candidates must complete competency checklists within 3 weeks after start date.
- Drug testing and immunizations must be current and valid at the time of start.
- Testing and certifications must be verified anew for this assignment; previous verifications are not accepted.
