Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
- On-Call: Not required
- Floating: Not applicable
- Orientation: Bi-weekly sessions
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
- Charting System: EPIC
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Behavioral Health experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks: Must be completed within 90 days of start date, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification (if applicable), and sanction lists
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Up-to-date immunizations including Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Polio vaccine or attestation
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
- Negative 10-panel drug test (including THC) within 30 days of start
- References: Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, including at least one supervisor
- Employment Application: Complete with 7 years of work history
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
- Competency Exam: Unit-specific competency exam required
- Color Blind Testing: Required only if applicable to role (not disqualifying)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation
- Candidates must complete competency checklists within 3 weeks after start date
- CPI training for ER and Behavioral Health includes an onsite module and in-person course during orientation
- Drug testing and health documents may be accepted from previous assignments if gap between contracts is less than 30 days
This role is ideal for experienced ER nurses with psychiatric emergency experience who have prior travel contract experience and meet all licensure and certification requirements.
