Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Total 36 hours per week
Unit and Patient Ratio
- Emergency Room with Psychiatric ED experience required
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Psychiatric Emergency Department experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Licensure and Certifications
- Current North Carolina RN license or Compact RN license at time of application
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card; if not held, training provided onsite during orientation
Required Skills and Charting System
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Work Schedule Requirements
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- No on-call requirement
- Floating not applicable
- Not open to block scheduling
Orientation
- Bi-weekly orientation sessions

Required Documentation and Compliance
- Valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID
- Social Security card (only if used for I9 verification)
- Background check within 90 days of start date, including:
- SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable)
- Education verification as applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start
- OFAC sanctions list search within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (latex allergy acceptable)
- Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) if applicable
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with documentation if history of positive PPD)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive antibody titers (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (may start with 2nd booster pending)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- Negative 10-panel drug test including THC within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge administered at orientation (passing required)
- Competency exam specific to unit required
- Color blind testing online (if applicable)
- 2 professional references from employment within last 12 months (at least 1 supervisor)
- Employment application with 7 years of work history
Additional Notes
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered at a different rate (not detailed here)
- Guest account setup required prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Candidates must complete competency checklists within 3 weeks after start date
- Online orientation modules must be completed prior to orientation
- Separate CPI course onsite for ER and Behavioral Health staff during orientation
- Candidate must confirm Guest Account setup before final clearance
