Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Oregon, Bend
Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Location: Bend, Oregon
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per week: 36
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Floating: Yes, may float within scope to low-risk family birthing unit at nearby campus
- On-call: No
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum of every other weekend or 8 weekend shifts during contract
- Local candidates: Not accepted (75-mile radius rule)
- Pending license: Not accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 7 days
Required Experience & Skills
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with full labor and delivery experience including postpartum care
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years
- Prior travel experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Epic electronic health record experience: Preferred
- Staffing skills: Ability to staff according to AWHONN staffing standards; experience working with break RNs and resource RNs
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider, instructor, or RQI acceptable
- AWHONN Intermediate
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider, instructor, or RQI acceptable
- FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Licensure
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse license valid in Oregon (primary source verification required)
- Pending licenses are not accepted
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually, including:
- SSN trace
- Counties lived/worked/school
- FACIS Level 3
- DOJ Sex Offender Search
- Nationwide checks
- Education verification (highest level)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start
- Diploma or transcript must be on file
- NURSYS verification required for RN license
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (or declination)
- Negative TB test (QGold within 1 year) or chest X-ray for positive responders
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer required (vaccine series alone not accepted)
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster or declination accepted)
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (not required annually)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or agency declination/exemption required during flu season (deadline 12/01)
- COVID vaccination preferred but not required; declination or exemption required if unvaccinated
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually
Documentation & Facility Requirements
- Passport-style photo with solid background required within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start
- Completion and signing of confidentiality, contractual access, compliance/privacy, and emergency contact forms within the same timeframe
Competency Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Specialty competency exam annually
- Annual skills checklist required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- AWHONN Intermediate certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
