CVICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Minneapolis, Minnesota


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU)
  • Location: Minneapolis, MN
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 12 weeks
  • Patient ratio: 1:2
  • Weekend requirement: Work every other weekend
  • Floating: Expected to float within ICU community (CVICU, Med/Surg ICU, Neuro ICU)
  • Block schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals accepted: No (must be outside 100-mile radius)
  • Pending license accepted: Yes
  • Return to office (RTO) restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Licensure

  • License: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota or compact state license accepted

Compliance and Onboarding Requirements

  • Background checks:
    • Criminal background check within 1 year (7-year statewide MN search required)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year
  • Fingerprinting: Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire and fingerprint clearance required before start; candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless a “more time needed” letter is provided
  • Preorientation modules: Must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login; modules take 3-9 hours depending on specialty
  • Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of signing contract
  • Physical exam: Within 12 months prior to start
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap (Tdap attestation and physician/religious exemption accepted with restrictions)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (TB results must be on file no later than 3 days after start)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no exemptions accepted)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive IGG titer, proof of series, or signed declination required
    • Varicella: Positive IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (no exemptions accepted)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted, exemptions not accepted)
  • Respiratory safety clearance: OSHA clearance and fit testing required prior to start
  • Drug testing: Not required for client clearance but must be within 1 year if done

Additional Requirements

  • Medication and competency exams: Required annually
  • References: Not required for client clearance but required for Per Diem candidates
  • Guaranteed hours: Client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty; on-call hours do not count toward guaranteed minimum hours

  • Candidates must be able to work every other weekend.
  • Floating within ICU units is expected.
  • No first-time travelers accepted.
  • Pending licenses are accepted.
  • Candidates must complete all required background checks, fingerprinting, health screenings, and orientation modules before starting.
