Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - PICU
Location
- Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type

- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shifts (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7 PM to 7 AM)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Possibility to fill in day shifts if necessary
- Guaranteed hours: Up to 36 hours per week
Patient Care & Unit Details
- Patient population includes Level 2 ER, PICU, NICU, Trauma, CCU, Floor Therapy, and High Acuity patients
- Floating within scope to other units as needed: CCU, Flex Unit, SDU, Pediatrics, PICU, PCU, FBS
- Patient diagnoses primarily involve respiratory therapy
- Special equipment used: Servo U, V60, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
Staffing Ratios
- Ratio: 1 Respiratory Therapist to 4 patients
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification required
- Must have an active Alaska state license prior to starting (compact license accepted at time of submission but AK license required before start)
- Respiratory Therapist experience (general)
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have an active Alaska state license prior to starting (compact license accepted at time of submission but AK license required before start)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification required
Documentation & Systems
- Electronic charting system: Cerner
Additional Requirements
- Must work every other weekend
- No on-call requirement
- Local candidates within 50 miles radius are not accepted
- Floating to other units within scope as needed
- Background checks, education verification, and transcript/diploma required
- Physical exam, fit mask test, and various immunizations/vaccinations required (including COVID-19 vaccine)
- Drug screening required within 30 days of start
- Completion of competency exams and medication/pharmacology test required
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding, pre-boarding, and HealthStream modules mandatory
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills checklist required prior to start
