NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Everett, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in a Level II Trauma Center with comprehensive maternity services and a Level II NICU at the Pacific Campus (women and children pavilion).
- Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM), totaling 36 hours/week.
- Start date: ASAP.
- Float required to Family Maternity Center/Postpartum (babies only).
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
- Guaranteed hours with possibility of being called off for 1 twelve-hour shift every 2 weeks.
- Patient population includes neonates 22 weeks and greater gestation with conditions such as prematurity, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), risk for alteration of nutrition, and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) exams.
- Equipment used includes conventional ventilators, oscillators, bubble CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula.
- No surgeries, ostomies, or tracheostomies performed in this unit.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), with NICU experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Must be willing to float to Family Maternity Center/Postpartum.
- Must be able to work weekends as scheduled.
Facility & Work Environment
- Facility uses EPIC for charting.
- Scrub color: Any except reddish orange.
- Parking is facility-paid.
- Total staffed beds across campuses: 571.
- Level II Trauma Center.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card required.
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; updated annually.
- Education verification required (nursing degree).
- NURSYS license verification required.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination accepted.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity via vaccines or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Varicella immunity via vaccines or positive titer.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
- Fit mask testing required for travel nurses, updated annually.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years required.
- Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete Providence-specific annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via the assigned LMS platform.
- Must comply with Providence float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other Providence facilities nearby).
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required.
