Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Job Details

• Shift: Evening, 4x12 hour shifts (13:00 to 01:00)
• Schedule: 36/48 hour alternating schedule; facility schedules 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee
• May consider 4x12s with 72-hour biweekly guarantee
• Hours per week: 48

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background check within 1 year of start, including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, sex offender registry
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
• Immunizations and health screenings required within 72 hours of signing contract or as noted:

  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year; chest x-ray if positive PPD within 5 years
  • Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series of 3, or declination
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/1–5/31) or facility-specific medical/religious exemption
  • COVID vaccination documentation required
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (instant acceptable); plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing
• Annual updates required for background check, orientation safety manual acknowledgment, and skills checklist

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific forms prior to start (e.g., parking policy acknowledgment, confidentiality statement, code of conduct, orientation forms)
• Flu medical or religious exemption forms if applicable
• TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
• References: 2 references within 3 years of start
• Resume or employment application copy required
