Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

As a Pediatric Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will provide bedside respiratory care in the NICU, PICU, emergency department, and pediatric & adult acute/intermediate care wards. Responsibilities include therapeutic interventions, diagnostic procedures, and patient care tailored to age-specific needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide airway management, therapeutic gases, ventilator management, newborn resuscitation, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood sampling, bedside spirometry, and point of care testing.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members and assist in training new Respiratory Therapists and students.
• Maintain competency with current care modalities and equipment.
• Complete all required competency testing and in-services.
• Chart and charge for all services per policy.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Oregon
• Minimum 1.5 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day.
• Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification.
• National Sex Offender Search and other federal checks completed within 30 days prior to start.
• Primary source verification of state respiratory therapy license within 60 days prior to start.
• Negative 2-step TB test, TSPOT, or QGOLD within 12 months prior to start; TB questionnaire required for all candidates.
• Immunization or documented immunity for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or signed declination).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required by December 1, 2025.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen including methamphetamines within 3 months prior to start.
• Fit mask testing completed within one year prior to start (N95 or equivalent).
• Two professional references from supervisors/managers within the last 24 months required.
• Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history with city and state for each position.

Additional Information

• No on-call duties.
• Must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date.
• Professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
• Required to complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to badge issuance.
• Respirator clearance and fit testing may be completed onsite if agency cannot provide prior to start.
• Stroke CEUs may be required depending on unit assignment.
