Description

Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract Position

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (4x10 hour shifts, 40 hours/week)


Job Description

  • Work hours: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • On-call required; no weekends or holidays unless on-call
  • No floating to other units
  • Critical Care experience required with at least 1 year of cath lab experience
  • Must have scrub and circulate skills; assist with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), pre- and post-catheterization care
  • Moderate sedation experience preferred
  • Experience with Xper and Paragon charting systems
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Hospital provides scrubs
  • Must be fully vaccinated including COVID booster

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • Experience as a Cath Lab Technologist
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Compliance and Background Checks

  • Criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the last 7 years, including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, and international searches if applicable
  • Background check, SAM, and OIG searches required within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam or physician statement of fitness to work (no annual update required)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start; marijuana testing not required
  • Negative or non-reactive Hepatitis C titer required
  • Tdap vaccine required
  • TB testing (PPD, QGold, or Tspot) within 3 months of start; if positive, chest X-ray within 1 year
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer; low/equivocal titers require 2 vaccines
  • Varicella immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer; low/equivocal titers require 2 vaccines
  • Hepatitis B immunity via titer, series, or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required for 2025-26 season; medical and religious exemptions accepted with annual renewal
  • COVID-19 booster attestation required if not eligible for vaccination prior to start

Orientation and Training

  • Mandatory hospital orientation required
  • Completion of assigned Cornerstone modules (~8 hours) prior to start; failure to complete may result in cancellation
  • 8-12 hours of McKesson training during orientation
  • Medication exam/pharmacology competency exam required as part of internal standards
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all RNs (not applicable here but noted for internal compliance)
  • IV certification required if previously worked in New Jersey hospitals; proof must be provided or candidate must complete IV modules and pass exams before assignment clearance

Documentation and Verification

  • Must provide a hard copy of professional license as applicable
  • Primary source verification of license required
  • Work history verification required for at least 1 year prior to start date with no gaps over 30 days (New Jersey state mandate)
  • Employment application must show minimum 2 years of acute care experience
  • Three references required, including at least one supervisor-level reference
  • Skills checklist required
  • Photo for badge must be shoulders-up with plain background, not a photo of a driver’s license or another photo
