Certified Surgical First Assistant - Travel/Contract

Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan

Position Details

• Start Date: ASAP
• Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
• Hours per Week: 40 hours guaranteed
• Call Requirements:

  • 2 call shifts per week
  • 2 weekend call shifts every 6 weeks
• Holiday Requirements: Per unit rotation
• Floating: Not applicable
• Locals: Not accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles away from the facility
• Charting System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical First Assistant within the last year
• Experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in, completed within 90 days of start
• Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
• Physical exam required
• Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
• Fit mask testing required (must be current within 1 year and valid through assignment)
• TB screening: Negative 2-step PPD or Q-gold within 1 year; T-spot tests not accepted
• Immunizations or titers required for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination accepted)
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start and documentation on file by December 15
• COVID vaccine exemption allowed with proper medical or religious documentation submitted

• Scrub color provided
• Facility requires completion of online modules (~8-10 hours) prior to start; candidates are paid for module completion hours
• Photo for badge required (passport-style, solid background, JPEG format)
• Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement must be signed before start
• On-site EKG exam and cardiac rhythm review required only for Monitor Techs (not applicable here)

• No floating assignments expected
