Description
Certified Surgical First Assistant - Travel/Contract
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Specialty: Surgical Services
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 40 hours guaranteed
- Call Requirements:
- 2 call shifts per week
- 2 weekend call shifts every 6 weeks
- Holiday Requirements: Per unit rotation
- Floating: Not applicable
- Locals: Not accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles away from the facility
- Charting System: Cerner
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical First Assistant within the last year
- Experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in, completed within 90 days of start
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
- Physical exam required
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
- Fit mask testing required (must be current within 1 year and valid through assignment)
- TB screening: Negative 2-step PPD or Q-gold within 1 year; T-spot tests not accepted
- Immunizations or titers required for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination accepted)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start and documentation on file by December 15
- COVID vaccine exemption allowed with proper medical or religious documentation submitted
Additional Information
- Scrub color provided
- Facility requires completion of online modules (~8-10 hours) prior to start; candidates are paid for module completion hours
- Photo for badge required (passport-style, solid background, JPEG format)
- Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement must be signed before start
- On-site EKG exam and cardiac rhythm review required only for Monitor Techs (not applicable here)

- No floating assignments expected
