Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location

  • Saint Louis, Missouri

Position Details

  • Specialty: Respiratory Care (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
  • Shift: Night, 4 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Hours per week: 48
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Not required
  • Locals not accepted; first-time travelers accepted
  • Pending license accepted
  • Required to have NICU and/or PICU experience
  • Skills required: Emergency Department, Level 1 Trauma Facility, NICU, Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatrics

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver's license)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including:
    • Statewide searches
    • MO State Highway Patrol check (if placement in Missouri)
    • Nationwide and international searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated quarterly
  • Education verification of highest related degree required before start
  • Professional license primary source verification required (Missouri licenses verified via NURSYS)
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including multiple substances; must remain valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test (N95 respirator) required and must be on file by end of first week of orientation; facial hair must allow proper fit
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination (required every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (two-step PPD or equivalent)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination with no exemptions allowed for NICU or newborn nursery staff
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Background checks and state-specific searches as required for Missouri placements
  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred within last year)
  • Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Unit-specific competency exams required annually, including pediatric and pharmacology exams relevant to NICU and pediatric care
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required; pediatric pharmacology exam required for RNs (not NICU)
  • Pass/fail medication and EKG testing at orientation for RNs
  • Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start, including:
    • HIPAA acknowledgment
    • Latex allergy questionnaire
    • Confidentiality form
    • Regulatory compliance education (annual quiz with minimum 80% score)
    • Hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies
    • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • Orientation modules not required for this facility

Additional Notes

  • No floating outside scope of practice
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Locals are not accepted for this travel contract
  • Candidates must have experience in pediatric critical care settings, including NICU and PICU
  • Facility uses EPIC for charting
  • Parking available with daily garage rates (not included here)
