Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Rehab

Location: Athens, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

  • Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
  • Setting: Outpatient hospital hand clinic specializing in hand injury patients
  • Responsibilities:
    • Treat all types of hand injuries and problems
    • Use splinting equipment (modality certification required)
    • Work alongside Certified Hand Therapists (CHT) and other hand therapists
  • Average daily patient census: 9
  • Electronic systems used: Epic, Pyxis
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Call: None
  • Holiday Work: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (expectation varies by number of holidays)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Diplomas verifying education credentials

Orientation and Onboarding

  • Non-billable orientation hours proportional to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days prior to start, including:
    • National sex offender registry
    • Nationwide criminal search
    • Education verification of related degree
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if prior positive TB test)
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
  • Color blindness test required

Documentation and Verification

  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof of processing (due within 30 days post start)
  • Verification of most recent work history required; can be pending at start with proof of processing (due within 30 days post start)
  • Two clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months required

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: Any color allowed
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Floating within facility as needed and within scope of practice
  • No call responsibilities
  • Clinical screening and manager approval required before final offer

This position is ideal for experienced Occupational Therapists with hand therapy skills and prior travel contract experience seeking a 12-week travel assignment in an outpatient hospital hand clinic setting.
