Job Opportunity: Acute Care Physical Therapist

Location

  • Florence, South Carolina

Position Details

  • Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Physical Therapist)
  • Setting: Hospital-based inpatient rehabilitation unit
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Weekend requirement: No
  • On-call requirement: No
  • Holiday requirement: Possible
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs or between like units/sister facilities
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Locals: Not accepted
  • Local radius: 60 miles

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)

Important Notes

  • Hurricane season (June through November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; peak months are August and September. Avoid confirming new or extension assignments during this period if this is a concern.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
  • Annual background check including multiple searches (SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, international searches)
  • Employment application/resume and proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold; T-spot not accepted)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination; boosters allowed pending start
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); flu declinations not accepted
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Respirator medical clearance required annually for all patient-facing staff (RespSafety questionnaire)
  • Facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start, including:
    • Assignment acknowledgment
    • Code of conduct review
    • Employee confidentiality agreement
    • HIPAA confidentiality agreement
    • HR policy manual review
    • Systems user agreement
    • User access request
    • Job description acknowledgment
    • Orientation modules (approx. 4 hours) must be completed before orientation; failure to complete results in being sent home
    • Passport-style photo for badge

Certifications Notes

  • Do not accept certifications expiring within 30 days of start; candidates must renew or have a course scheduled prior to start
  • Advanced certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, and chemo certification are not required for this position/location but may be required for other units or campuses
