Description
Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General
Location
- City: New Haven, Connecticut
- Work sites include multiple nearby medical centers within 15 minutes of the main hospital campus
- Floating between 4 sites as needed
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with an additional 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM shift as needed
- Every other Saturday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (if scheduled for Saturday, a weekday off is provided)
- Schedule posted one week in advance
- Guaranteed hours: 40 hours per week
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
- Recent Ultrasound Technologist experience within the last year
- ARRT Mammography (M) certification
- ARRT Radiography (R) certification
Licensure
- Active state license required prior to start
- Pending state license accepted but must be active before starting
- Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start
- MRI Techs: state license not required (note: this is an Ultrasound Tech role)

- Orientation every Monday

Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months prior to start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required, including foreign equivalency evaluation for internationally educated candidates
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
- Tdap vaccination highly preferred for certain specialties (not required here)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccination preferred but not required
Required Training and Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications (AHA or ARC)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (verify with unit description)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start
- Color blind testing required (passing score 80% or higher)
- Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required, including but not limited to:
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (exceptions apply)
- Stroke Education
- CLABSI Prevention Training

- EPIC testing or training may be required depending on experience and unit
Work History and References
- Must provide a 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Employment verification required for the last 7 years
- One supervisor reference within the past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU/CTICU (charge nurse references not accepted)
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start
Special Requirements
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain units and roles (including Ultrasound Tech)
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: absences longer than 7 days require approval
This position requires a highly experienced Ultrasound Tech with specific certifications and the ability to float between multiple sites. Candidates must be prepared for weekend work and meet extensive compliance and training requirements.
