Description
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Akron, Ohio
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide respiratory therapy services primarily in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with float to other pediatric and adult facilities as needed.
- Level 3 and 4 NICU experience preferred.
- Must have experience with pediatric or adult patients.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Required Background and Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, statewide, national criminal, nationwide sex offender, FACIS Level 3, OFAC, education verification, and international check if applicable.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and must be updated annually or after breaks in service over 30 days.
- Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprint results required within 1 month of start; must be updated annually.
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; new screen required after breaks in service over 30 days.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test (IGRA within 30 days or PPD within 1 year) or chest X-ray if TB positive
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccinations
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series proof, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccinations
- Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Nov 15 - May 31). Medical exemptions require additional facility-specific documentation signed by a licensed provider.
Additional Requirements
- Unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams must be completed and updated annually.
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually.
- Must complete facility-specific documents including computer security agreement, HIPAA/confidentiality statement, and float policy for NICU and pediatric units.
- Two positive professional references required, including at least one from the most recent employer.
- Employment application must document 3 years of prior work history, including at least 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment.
Work Environment
- Float to other facilities as needed, including pediatric and adult care units.
- Night shift schedule with 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Level 3 and 4 NICU settings.
- PCAR (Pediatric Care After Resuscitation) certification preferred.
- STABLE certification required for NICU; can be completed onsite.
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with pediatric and NICU expertise seeking a travel contract in Ohio.
