Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Neuro Specialty)
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana

Job Description
- Position is in the Operating Room with a neuro specialty focus.
- Must have extensive experience with neuro cases.
- Additional experience in Robotics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, and other specialties is required as staff may float to different services on slower days.
- Neuro call is required.
- Unit does not accept first-time travelers.
- Upon assignment, you may be required to join an Emergency Team and stay at the facility during emergency events as directed by the unit manager.
Shift Details
- Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:15 AM – 6:45 PM)
- Total hours per week: 36
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana.
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year.
- One completed travel assignment.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
- Sex offender search required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
- Education verification of highest level completed (transcript/diploma acceptable if verification cannot be completed).
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant screenings not accepted).
- Employment application and skills checklist required, with 7 years employment history and explanation for gaps.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, indicating good physical health.
- Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
- Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually. For positive TB, additional documentation required.
- Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tdap vaccination required for certain units (not specified for this role).
- Seasonal flu vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be comfortable with emergency event assignments and potential extended stays.
