Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lubbock, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours, 18:45 - 7:15)
Hours per Week: 48
Job Overview
- Position floats between ICU, Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical units.
- Expected to work 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule.
- No on-call or block schedules required.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:2 to 1:3.
- 48-hour shifts are approved.
- Requires experience in cardiac, neuro, trauma, and general surgery.
- Seasoned traveler required.

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- Minimum 3 years of travel nursing experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in cardiac, neuro, trauma, and general surgery nursing
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Fit mask test (annual, travel only).
- Immunizations and screenings:
- TDAP within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer, with boosters or declination if low/equivocal titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with boosters or declination if low/equivocal titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable).
Background & Verification
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format.
- Work history verification required if exceptions to references are requested.
Uniform & Dress Code
- Licensed nursing personnel wear solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (scrub tops may have colored piping).
- Print tops are not acceptable except in specific pediatric or women's services units.
Additional Notes
- Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor lots.
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities.
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start.
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel nurses.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs who are comfortable floating between critical care, telemetry, and med-surg units, and who have prior travel nursing experience.
