Registered Nurse – 8E Stepdown (Stepdown/MedSurg)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit Type: 8 EAST - MedSurg Stepdown & Floor
• Beds: 34
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Stepdown: 1:3
  • Floor: 1:5-6
• Respiratory Therapy: RT in-house 24/7; vents available on unit
• Telemetry: Tele techs post strips each shift; RNs must be proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry strips
• Support Staff: Typically 2-5 nurse aides per shift
• Charge Nurse & Transport RN present from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM at optimal staffing

Shift & Scheduling

• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Day: 12
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend and holiday work required (frequency unspecified)
• Floating: May be required to float to other units (specific units not detailed)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with Stepdown experience within the last year
• BLS Certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current Driver’s License
• Acute Care nursing experience
• Proficiency in telemetry strip interpretation

Submission & Eligibility Notes

• Candidates may only submit to one position at a time within the system
• Driver’s license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility
• Previous permanent candidates must have been off the unit for at least 2 years
• Previous travelers must have been off the unit for at least 2 years after completing a full year
• Travel teams must be submitted together in one submission
• Only two candidates can be submitted per opening; additional submissions held until a spot opens
• All submissions must include an unexpired copy of the candidate’s driver’s license
