Description
Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Long Term Care (LTC)
Location: Humansville, Missouri
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Days
Hours per Day: 8
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
- Develop and adjust plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
- Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
- Assess patient progress and modify treatments accordingly; evaluate treatment outcomes for effectiveness.
- Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding speech disorders.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members about patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
- Document all required clinical and regulatory information accurately in electronic records, including treatment minutes.
- Provide comprehensive discharge summaries per regulatory and clinical requirements.
- Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings or in-services.
- Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as needed.
- Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or student Speech-Language Pathologists.
- Adhere to ASHA and state practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience within the last year
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA
- Experience in Long Term Care settings
- Experience in Rehabilitation settings
Additional Information
- Typical treatment times for SLP are approximately 30 minutes per session.
- Caseload may range from 10 to 14 patients per day depending on the number of evaluations.
- Group therapy is allowed and may be used to enhance productivity.
- Each therapist typically has a dedicated device for documentation.
- Productivity expectations: 88-90% for evaluating therapists.
- Overtime and holiday pay apply as per policy.
