Description
MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Float tech role covering multiple buildings within the facility.
- Shift: Monday-Thursday, 4x10 hour shifts (6:30 AM – 7:30 PM), hours may vary based on coverage needs.
- Must work holidays if they fall on scheduled shifts.
- No on-call required.
- Floating within scope of practice is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience within the last year.
- Required certifications/licenses:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted.
- MR certification (ARRT or ARMRIT).
- Siemens equipment experience required.
Facility & Work Environment
- Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation.
- Total staffed beds: 865.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Scrub color: Teal top, black bottom.
- Parking: Paid parking for nights and weekends with a one-time $20 parking pass fee.
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required.
- Complete and accurate I-9 form and E-Verify attestation confirming work eligibility in the US.
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including national and state criminal checks.
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts may be accepted as placeholders.
- State-specific search for Medicaid excluded providers.
- Nursys verification as applicable.
- Proof of employment history for last 3 clinical employers required.
- Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and titers required or proof of vaccination/declination for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form).
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series; boosters may be required).
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination).
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if prior positive. Annual TB questionnaire required.
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete facility vaccination declination form.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31).
Competency & Training
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.
- Color blindness testing required prior to start.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) before starting orientation.
- Facility-specific first day instructions and OurDay modules must be completed prior to start; failure to complete may result in being sent home.
Additional Notes
- Radius rule: Must live within 60 miles; local candidates considered case-by-case.
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application and approved based on unit needs.
