Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D) – Nights

Location: Brattleboro, Vermont
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours per Day: 12


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in a Level One low-risk birthing center with single room maternity care.
  • Patient population includes obstetrical patients (antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum), clean female surgical cases, newborn stabilization, normal newborn care, and pediatric patients during the perinatal period.
  • Care incorporates Orem’s theory of self-care and family-centered care philosophy.
  • Cesarean births are performed and recovered in the birthing center.
  • Nursing support provided for therapeutic abortions on other units when staffing permits.
  • Care may be provided on inpatient or outpatient status.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Vermont
  • Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) experience within the last year
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cesarean sections, epidurals, electronic charting, and venipuncture.
  • Active Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certification.
  • Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Active S.T.A.B.L.E. certification (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, Emotional support).
  • Prior travel nursing experience is highly preferred.

Additional Information

  • The position is located in a very rural area with limited housing options and public transportation; candidates should plan accordingly.
  • Locals residing within 50 miles are accepted, with a note that pay rates may be adjusted accordingly.

Summary

This is a temporary night shift RN position in Labor & Delivery requiring at least 1 year of recent LDRP experience, Vermont RN licensure, and BLS certification. Experience with high delivery volume, C-sections, and fetal monitoring certifications are highly preferred. The role involves comprehensive maternity and newborn care in a rural hospital setting.
