Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Valentine, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Additional Hours: Extra shifts available
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description

• Position: Medical Surgical Charge Nurse (Traveler)
• Responsible for overseeing patient care on med/surg unit during night shifts

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience in Charge Nurse roles

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form (required prior to start)
• Background checks within 1 year of start, including:

  • Social Security Trace and County searches for last 7 years
  • Nationwide and Sex Offender searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (annual)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if past positive, negative chest x-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
• Immunization or titer proof for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history of chickenpox)
• 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• Professional references:

  • 2 for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
  • 1 for per diem non-acute care roles
• Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and skills checklist

Additional Notes

• Must meet or exceed required competency exam passing scores
• National tech certification and state license verification as applicable (for non-RN roles; RN license verification required)

This position offers a travel nursing opportunity for an experienced Med/Surg RN to work night shifts in Nebraska with guaranteed hours and potential for extra shifts. All required certifications, immunizations, and background checks must be current and verifiable prior to start.
