Job Details
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), brand new 10-bed unit
- Patient Population: General medical with some cardiology and neurology cases
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Approximately 6 shifts per contract, may vary based on unit needs
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3
- Charting System: Epic
- Floating: Required to float within scope to like units as needed
- Scrub Color: Navy blue top, black or navy-blue pants
- Special Skills: Bedside TEE/Cardioversion and moderate sedation experience preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Proof of Name Change (if applicable)
- Background Checks (within 60 days of start):
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado CBI, education verification (accredited nursing school), FACIS III, sex offender search, OFAC sanctions list
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education Verification: 3rd party verification or transcript/diploma acceptable
- NURSYS Verification (RN license verification) within 60 days of start
- Colorado CAPS Check Results within 60 days of start
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit Mask Test: Within 12 months of start, annual update required (specific 3M masks)
- Immunizations/Vaccines:
- TDAP within 10 years or signed declination within 1 year
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual updates if positive TB history
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive MMR IGG titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titer negative/equivocal
- COVID-19: Proof of vaccination or signed declination (acceptable vaccines: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna)
- Drug Testing: Within 30 days of start and annually thereafter (specific drug panel required)
- Color Blind Exam: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required within 1 year and updated annually
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required within 1 year and updated annually
- Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III): Required annually with minimum 80% score
- OSHA Mandatory Training: Required annually with minimum 80% score
- Facility-specific New Employee Orientation modules to be completed within first two weeks of assignment
Additional Notes
- References: Two references from the last two years required; one must be from employment within the last year, preferably from a Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- On-call: Not required
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized PCU setting with a focus on acute care nursing, requiring strong clinical skills and flexibility to float as needed. Night shift availability and required certifications are essential for consideration.
