• Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Primarily day shifts, 8-hour shifts (40 hours per week)
• Scheduling: 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts available; varied start times primarily day/evening; no self-scheduling for travelers; block scheduling allowed if it meets unit needs
• Orientation: 1 week, 3 shifts
• Floating: May be required to float to outpatient surgery

Unit Information

• Operating Room with 9 OR suites, 1 procedure room, and 1 hybrid room
• Open 24/7 with an average of 35-45 cases per day
• Common cases include general surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedic robotics (Da Vinci, Rosa), neuro spine, trauma, vascular, pediatrics (dental and ENT), and emergent cases (appendectomies, stab wounds, craniotomies)
• Excludes cardiovascular OR and labor & delivery (C-sections)

Required Qualifications

• RN license appropriate for West Virginia
• 2-3 years of experience in OR nursing required
• 2-3 previous travel assignments required (prior travel experience mandatory)
• Orthopedic experience required
• Experience with passing arms in and out for robotic surgeries required
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred
• Scrubbing as an RN is a plus but not required
• Must be comfortable working overnight shifts as the only RN with 2 techs on night shift

Call and On-Call Requirements

• One weeknight on-call per week (7pm-7am), rotation varies
• One weekday call every two weeks (Monday-Thursday, nights and weekends 7pm-7am, 7pm-11pm)
• One weekend 24-hour on-call shift per month (7am-7pm)
• Holiday call rotation as needed
• Call response time: 30 minutes; if more than 30 minutes away, must stay on-site while on call

Additional Information

• Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility to submit
• Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years before reapplying
• Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years after 1 full year assignment
• Only 2 candidates submitted per opening; submissions held if position is full
• Background disclosures required at time of submission
• No aides or housekeeping staff; techs responsible for room turnover
• OR staff primarily travelers
• Charge nurse coverage from 7am-7pm; travelers rotate through charge nurse role during day shifts
• Scrubs provided for RNs and OR techs
