Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (5 days x 8 hours)
- Call requirements: One night per week (5:30 PM - 6:30 AM), one weekend per month (24 hours Sat-Sun)
- Department handles general nuclear medicine studies including bones, renals, gastric emptying, GI bleeds, HIDAs, thyroid uptake/scan, parathyroids, VQ perfusions, cardiac and EPT/CT
- Daily caseload: 15-18 patients
- Patient age range: Adolescents through geriatrics
- Work environment: 4 rooms plus PET/CT
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies
- Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate doses for radiologists
- Administer radiation to patients safely and accurately
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS certification
- NMTCB certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification
- Completion of facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreements, code of ethics, dress code, parking forms, and orientation attestations prior to start
- Radiation badge attestation required for nuclear medicine staff (note: new radiation badges are no longer provided by agency; existing badge holders are grandfathered)
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment application and skills checklist updated annually
- Negative 11-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year, including assessment of ability to meet physical demands
- Fit mask test within last 12 months (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (measles), mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B titers or vaccinations
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required for certain units (confirm applicability)
- Annual TB questionnaire completion required
Additional Information
- EPIC Radiology CT online training available on unit
- Scrub color: Pewter Grey
- Candidates must wear both agency and facility badges at all times
- Facility requires review and signature of multiple policies and acknowledgements prior to start
- Flu vaccine exemptions require agency or clinical leadership approval with supporting documentation
