Description

PACU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Midland, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Urgent backfill position
  • Monday to Friday, Day shift (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM), 40 hours/week
  • Call required
  • Must assist with coverage in Pre-Op
  • Experience preferred with Level II trauma cases
  • Required experience with recovery of ortho, neuro, general surgery, urology, dental (adults and pediatrics), GYN, and pediatric ENT (Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy, BMT, etc.)
  • Experience monitoring patients with nerve blocks, chest tube insertions, central lines, intubation, and arterial lines
  • Pediatric experience required; critical care experience strongly preferred
  • Preferred: 2 years of nursing experience in all surgeries except cardiac

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all clinical positions)
  • Other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., NRP, TNCC, CHEMO) depending on assignment

Required Licenses and Verifications

  • Valid Texas RN license verified via NURSYS within 30 days of start
  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background checks including 10-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific checks (Texas DPS Criminal History, Employee Misconduct Registry, Employability Status Check) within 30 days of start
  • Education verification as applicable

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, completed within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • N95 Fit Test within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen at orientation
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or agency declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)

Additional Requirements

  • Must sign confidentiality, security agreements, drug screening consent, TB questionnaire, and compliance checklists prior to start
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance forms before starting
  • Two professional references within 3 years required
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Competency exams (including medication/pharmacology and age-specific) required within 1 year of start

  • PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year

  • Experience working with Pediatric patients
  • Orthopedics experience
  • Neurology experience
  • Urology experience
  • ENT Surgery experience
  • Pediatrics PACU - Post Anesthetic Care experience

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful.
