Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech

Location: Zion, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday (5x8 hours)
Hours per Week: 40 hours (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Work Schedule: No on-call, weekends, or float required

Job Description

  • Work as an Interventional Radiology Tech in a cancer-focused facility.
  • Utilize EPIC for documentation and SBAR for communication.
  • Responsibilities include maintaining equipment and inventory, stocking supplies, and performing fluoroscopy.
  • Follow isolation precautions, PPE protocols, and sterile technique.
  • Participate in room circulation and maintain sterile fields during procedures.
  • Use PACS and assist with equipment setup and access site preparation.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Angioplasty, chemoembolization, embolization, radioembolization, radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the liver
  • Chest tube placement, gastrostomy tube placement, liver biopsy, paracentesis, thoracentesis
  • Inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement/removal, inferior vena cavagram
  • Renal angiography, selective visceral angiography, upper and lower extremity angiography
  • Catheter/drain exchange, cholecystostomy, internal/external biliary drainage, nephrostomy
  • Percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram, thrombolysis/thrombectomy
  • Venous access management including ports, central venous lines, PICC lines
  • Computed tomography and ultrasound imaging
  • Vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)

Required Background and Health Documentation

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background checks within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
    • Social Security Trace
    • County, Nationwide, and National Sex Offender checks
    • Education verification
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry Search (for aides and nursing assistants only; not required for this role)
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility policy
  • Immunizations/vaccinations:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella (boosters required if titers are low)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, 3-dose vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; history of chickenpox or declination not accepted)
    • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (masking required if exempt)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (must include marijuana)
  • Annual competency exams and skills checklist as applicable
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • Annual respirator fit testing and training (facial hair must not interfere with respirator seal; medical/religious exemptions handled by HR)
