Description

Physical Therapist - Outpatient (Travel/Contract)

Location: Morgan City, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (5 days/week, 40 hours/week)


Job Overview

  • Average daily census: ~25 patients divided among 2.5 therapists
  • Patient visits per day: 8-12
  • Specialty focus: Orthopedics and Geriatrics
  • Open to first-time travel therapists and those with less than 2 years of experience (no new graduates)
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during events, requiring extended stay or relief coverage as directed by unit manager

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Louisiana
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or RQI accepted)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification or transcript/diploma if verification cannot be completed
  • Sex offender search within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant screenings not accepted)
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, indicating good health
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed
  • Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable to specialty)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive IGG titer or completed vaccine series)
    • Hepatitis B (positive antibody titer, completed vaccine series, booster, or signed declination)
    • Varicella (positive IGG titer, completed vaccine series, or booster)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months of start, updated annually; if positive, additional documentation required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • Photo for badge: full color, passport-style, taken within last 6 months with plain background

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness protocols, including possible extended shifts during emergency events
  • Skills checklist and competency exam specific to specialty required annually
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit assignment (check with program management)
  • Employment application and resume required, including 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps

This position offers a structured outpatient physical therapy role with a focus on orthopedic and geriatric populations, suitable for therapists new to travel assignments or with limited experience.

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
