Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ED)
• Shift: Night shift, either 4 shifts of 12 hours (1900-0730) or 3 shifts of 12 hours
• Patient Census: Average daily census of 120 patients in a 32-bed ED
• Staffing Ratio: 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio on all shifts
• Weekend Work: Required as needed
• Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Experience working with pediatric patients
• Experience with Tele Interpretations
• Skilled in administration of continuous IV paralytics
• Proficient in procedural sedation administration
• Experience with chest tube insertion and management
• Competent in intubation procedures

Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital with 280 staffed beds
• Level II Trauma Center
• Royal blue scrub color
• Electronic charting via Cerner
• Parking permit required (no cost)

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within one year of start, confirming good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions without restrictions
• Fit mask test required prior to start (3M 1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+ masks accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella) or signed declinations
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
• Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and state-specific searches within 30 days of start
• Fingerprinting and Illinois Healthcare Registry Worker results required for clinical candidates without an Illinois license (must be completed in Illinois)
• Education verification and competency exam required
• Two professional references required

Additional Notes

• No on-call requirement
• Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days
• Guaranteed hours subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for cancelled hours
• Badge photo required before start
• Completion of orientation safety manual and computer-based learning modules mandatory before orientation
• Candidates must review and sign code of conduct and parking permit forms within 7 days of contract signing
