Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry (Night Shift)

Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Average Patient Ratio: 1:5-6 (days, nights, weekends)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Guaranteed Hours: Yes

Job Description

• Care for pulmonary ventilated patients and those undergoing ventilator weaning.
• Must have experience with tracheostomy care.
• Ability to manage up to 5 non-ventilated patients as needed.
• Floating between related units within scope of practice is expected and may occur frequently.
• First-time travel nurses are accepted.
• Locals are not accepted.
• Pending license accepted but must be active prior to start date.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Connecticut.
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience with tracheostomy care.
• Experience with ventilator management.

Special Requirements

• Must have ventilator and tracheostomy experience.
• Ability to float frequently between related units.
• Must be able to work every other weekend.
• No on-call required.
• Pending license accepted but must be active before start.

• Parking cost: $125/month.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must provide photo ID matching legal name on first day.
• Foreign-educated candidates must provide foreign equivalency report and diploma.
• Candidates must complete various mandatory training modules and attestations prior to or shortly after start.
• EPIC testing is encouraged for those with prior experience; onsite training provided if testing is not completed or passed.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
• COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory.

This position offers a challenging opportunity for experienced RNs with ventilator and telemetry skills seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity acute care setting.
