ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Jacksonville, Illinois
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: ICU/CCU
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 for all shifts
• ICU Beds: 4
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• Floating: May float within scope as needed
• Schedule: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
• On-call: No
• RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with multi-system organ failure
• Experience with IV insulin protocols
• Experience managing chronic and acute renal failure
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Central line and PICC line care/management
• Experience with continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including SSN trace, national and state criminal checks, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions
• Education verification (degree or transcript)
• Primary source verification of RN license (NURSYS)
• Competency exam completion
• Badge photo (color, plain background)
• Signed Code of Conduct
• Physical exam within 1 year, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
• Fit mask test (3M 1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+), not completed onsite
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations or documented immunity/declination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
• References: Two professional references required
• Illinois-specific state searches and registry checks within 30 days of start, including:

  • Most Wanted Search
  • Department of Corrections Inmate Search
  • State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry
  • Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry fingerprint results (fingerprints must be taken in Illinois 3 business days prior to start)

Additional Notes

• First-time travel nurses accepted
• No prior travel experience required
• Facility is a Critical Access, Magnet-designated hospital with 25 staffed beds
• Candidates may be called off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts
• Facility accommodates latex allergies
