Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Night Shift) - Maryland


Position Details

  • Job Title: ER Registered Nurse
  • Location: Randallstown, Maryland
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Contract Length: 14 weeks

Unit & Patient Care Information

  • Emergency Room with behavioral health locked units (ratio 1:6)
  • General ER nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 to 1:6
  • Unit is a Primary Stroke Center (Gold status with American Heart Association)
  • STEMI patients stabilized and transferred if catheterization intervention needed
  • Two rapid evaluation units for urgent and critical care needs with rapid medical screenings
  • Supported by ED staffing and security team
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required; temporary paper receipt allowed only as placeholder
  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma preferred (especially for out-of-state nursing programs)
  • NURSYS primary source license verification required
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella (boosters if negative)
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if negative)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant test allowed as placeholder)
  • Completion of required facility-specific forms including attendance, floating, and consent to release information
  • Badge photo required for facility ID
  • EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam (Relias or Prophecy platform only) with up to 3 attempts; remediation required after failed attempts
  • Stroke and Trauma CEUs as required by unit; NIHSS counts toward stroke CEUs if completed within the year
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification if required by unit
  • Medication and unit-specific competency exams as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must complete health assessment surveys prior to start
  • Labs must be completed by Monday prior to start to ensure on-time reporting
  • Facility provides radiation badges for applicable roles (not applicable for this RN role unless assigned to interventional radiology or cath lab)
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years preferred but not mandatory if work history verification is available
  • Candidate must review and sign facility policies related to attendance, floating, and time and attendance for contracted staff
