Registered Nurse – Ortho (Travel/Contract)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: 38-bed Orthopedic unit
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 – 07:15)
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: May float to other Medical-Surgical departments as needed
- Schedule: No block scheduling available
- Locals accepted without radius restrictions
- On-call: None
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Orthopedics nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- PICC line management skills

Health and Compliance Requirements
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
- Competency exam required prior to start
- References: 2 professional references required
Documentation and Onboarding
- Valid US Driver’s License or State ID required
- Primary source verification of RN license and certifications
- Photo for badge required before start
- Completion of orientation safety manual and computer-based learning modules before first day
- Various state-specific background and registry checks required within 30 days of start (Illinois-specific)
Additional Notes
- Candidate should ideally have no more than 5 days of return-to-office restrictions
- Client may cancel up to 36 hours of shifts per 13-week assignment without pay obligation
- Candidates placed on-call count as called-off shifts if not worked
This position is suitable for RNs with orthopedic experience seeking a night shift travel contract in an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospital setting.
