Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER) (Nights)
Location: West Branch, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Coordinate total nursing care for patients in the Emergency Department (ED).
- Participate in patient and family teaching.
- Provide leadership by collaborating with ancillary nursing and other patient care team members.
- Maintain professional nursing standards in the clinical setting.
- Ensure patient rights and privacy are protected.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards as defined by the ANA Code for Nurses, ANA Nursing’s Social Policy Statement, Michigan Public Health Code, and Specialty Nursing Standards of Clinical Practice.
- Comply with regulatory standards including those from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), Healthcare Finance Administration (HCFA), and Michigan Occupational Health and Safety (MIOSHA).
- Function independently in a rural, free-standing ED setting with an average patient volume of 27 patients per day.
- Perform respiratory care, ventilator management, phlebotomy, and some pharmacy drug mixing.
Work Environment
- Emergency Department with 10 beds.
- Patient population ranges from newborn to geriatric.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 4:1.
- EMR system: Cerner.
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
- Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Additional Notes
- This position requires a nurse comfortable with a higher level of autonomy and a broad skill set due to the rural, free-standing nature of the ED.
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
