ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 7:30)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work as a Critical Care Float Pool RN covering weekend day shifts with flexibility to meet unit needs.
- Float to various ICUs including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, NCCU.
- Float policy requires working within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Ventilator management experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881).
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Annual TB questionnaire
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended.
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam prior to start.
- Unit-specific competency exams.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%).
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement annually.
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Annual review and signature of dress code and hand hygiene policy.
- Completion of Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism form.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
- Annual ethics and compliance policy review and acknowledgment.
- Proof of fingerprint completion required for subcontractors.
- References: 2 professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.

This position offers a challenging and dynamic ICU float pool role requiring strong critical care skills, flexibility, and compliance with rigorous credentialing and health requirements.
