ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 7:30)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work as a Critical Care Float Pool RN covering weekend day shifts with flexibility to meet unit needs.
• Float to various ICUs including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, NCCU.
• Float policy requires working within units of equivalent or lower acuity.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications:

  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
• Ventilator management experience
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881).
• Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended.

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam prior to start.
• Unit-specific competency exams.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%).
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement annually.

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

• Annual review and signature of dress code and hand hygiene policy.
• Completion of Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism form.
• Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
• Annual ethics and compliance policy review and acknowledgment.
• Proof of fingerprint completion required for subcontractors.
• References: 2 professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.
